A.K. Marder - "Emergence" Serial Slicing - ATEC 6389 - Fall2016

In Rhino, using the command "Contour" I was able to extract curves from my 3D model in .25in increments.  By doing this, I have generated "slices" of my model to be laid out for laser cutting.  The intended material for cutting is .25in cardboard which will then be stacked and re-assembled after cutting.  I decided to use the majority of the fingers and take out most of the palm for the purpose of making the hand look like it's emerging out from the ground.

Rhino file laid out and formatted for laser cutting.  I used .25in dowel rods and text engravings as my register guidelines for assembly purposes.  Over all size is 24in x 24in after assembled.

Things did not go as planned but sometimes one has to just submit to the result of the process.
