In Rhino, using the command "Contour" I was able to extract curves from my 3D model in .25in increments. By doing this, I have generated "slices" of my model to be laid out for laser cutting. The intended material for cutting is .25in cardboard which will then be stacked and re-assembled after cutting. I decided to use the majority of the fingers and take out most of the palm for the purpose of making the hand look like it's emerging out from the ground. |

Rhino file laid out and formatted for laser cutting. I used .25in dowel rods and text engravings as my register guidelines for assembly purposes. Over all size is 24in x 24in after assembled. |

Things did not go as planned but sometimes one has to just submit to the result of the process.
