Task: Pick one of the two AlienArtist models and serial slice in Rhino in preparation for Laser Cutting

Process: Serial Slice

Tools: Rhino and two AFScott tutorials


Back to the computer.

What is due this week:

1. Serial Sliced model in Rhino properly formatted for laser cutting

• Solid Model scaled no more than 16"
• Serial Sliced using the Contour command with .25 registration pins
• Cut sheets properly layed out and labeled

Reference layer (CYAN)
Exterior Cut (MAGENTA)
Interior Cut (BLUE)
Text (RED)

2. Keyshot renderings of your Serial sliced model showing two different views

Post to the Blogsite:

1. Ghosted view painted black of your Solid model next to the serial sliced version of your        model

2. Cut sheets showing your properly formatted serial sliced layers

       2 Renderings of your model showing 2 different views or materials.



I looked at all the awesome PDF's that Prof referenced this week.

I watched all his video Rhino tutorials for slicing multiple times, and watched the Grasshopper videos only once.

I have spent multiple hours trying to get down the beginner's learning curves on both apps.

The best thing, I did this week was engage AK for two hours of handholding in Rhino. Thanks Amanda!

I also got educational licenses for BOTH Rhino & Keyshot for Mac for my Home iMac.

I started watching the Lynda.com course on Rhino 5!



Alas, even with ALL that work, I am currently in Rhino & Keyshot purgatory, 
just trying to accomplish the most minor navigation tweaks in BOTH.

I wonder if I AM the only one?
